THE 7 DEADLY SPIRITUAL
WEAPONS OF EVERY BELIEVER
2 CORITH.
10:3-6, EPH. 6:10-12
“Of
course we are human, but we don't fight like humans. 4 The weapons
we use in our fight are not made by humans. Rather, they are powerful
weapons from God. With them we destroy people's defenses, that is, their
arguments 5 and all their intellectual arrogance that
oppose the knowledge of God. We take every thought captive so that it is obedient
to Christ. 6 We are ready to punish every act of
disobedience when you have become completely obedient.
“10 Finally,
receive your power from the Lord and from his mighty strength. 11 Put on all the armor that God supplies. In
this way you can take a stand against the devil's strategies. 12 This is not a wrestling match against a human
opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this
world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly
world.
GOD'S WORD TRANSLATION
1.
THE NAME OF JESUS – PHIL. 2:9-11
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee
should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory
of God the Father. NIV
Luke 10:17 “the seventy-two returned with joy and said, "Lord,
even the demons submit to us in your name." NIV
Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In
my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they
will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it
will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they
will get well." NIV
Peter and John were going to the temple to
pray as they usually do and a man that was cripple from birth was lying at the
entrance in Acts
3:6-8
“Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do
not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
walk." 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped
him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them
into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. NIV
After some days Peter and John were as in
4:7
7 They had Peter and John brought before
them and began to question them: "By what power or what name did you do
this?" 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit,
said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness
shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from
the dead, that this man stands before you healed. NIV
2.
The blood of Jesus Revelation 12:7, 8, 11
“7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against
the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.
11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their
lives so much as to shrink from death”. NIV
This is a prophetic war that will take
place in the future when satan will be totally cast to the earth forever. The
battle took place in the very presence of God. Take note that the battle was
not between God and satan but between the angels of God and satan and his
demons. There is no way the devil or satan can stand before God in a battle.
Even if angels that are not permitted to
use the blood, and also, mightier and stronger than human, wiser and powerful
than flesh dare use the blood of Jesus against their counterpart and defeated
them how much more we that have the right to use the blood, we need to use the
blood against the powers the fight our success and our peace, you need to plead
the blood over your life every day.
3.
The word of God – Hebrews 4:12
“12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any
double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and
marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. NIV
It was through the word of God that Christ overcame the
devil at the time of His temptation.
Confessing the word alone is great sources of power, sometimes
when you see that you are under attack by the devil start coating the Bible…..
There was a great miracle when Peter obeyed the word of
Christ.
It was the word of God that brought life when Ezekiel was
asked to prophesied on the dry bones.
4.
Your righteousness in Christ – James 5:16
“Therefore confess your sins to
each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a
righteous man is powerful and effective.” NIV
Listen to me Church, the devil is not
afraid of prayers but he will be afraid of your prayers when you are living in
righteousness. Prayer without righteousness is meaningless and powerless. Sometimes
when you are praying you think of speaking big terms, some of us we do learn
the prayers of powerful men and women of God but they all come to naught but if
you want real power over the devil live in righteousness. With all that the
devil was doing to Job, the devil was still afraid of Job,
In Job 27:6-11 he declare his stand in the
Lord;
6 I will maintain
my righteousness and never let go of it; my conscience will not reproach me as
long as I live. 7 "May my enemies be like the wicked,
my adversaries like the unjust! 8 For what hope has the godless when he is
cut off, when God takes away his life? 9 Does God listen to his cry when distress
comes upon him? 10 Will he find delight in the Almighty?
Will he call upon God at all times? 11 "I will teach you about the power
of God; the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal. NIV
Ezekiel 14:12-14 The word of the Lord came to me: 13 "Son of man, if a country sins
against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off
its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its men and their animals, 14 even if these three men — Noah, Daniel and Job — were in it, they
could save only themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign Lord. NIV
5.
The Holy Spirit in you – Acts 1:8
“But you will
receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…. NIV
Acts 10:38
“how God anointed Jesus
of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good
and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with
him. NIV
6.
The Fire Of God – Hebrews 12:28, 29
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let
us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly
fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire. KJV
When Elijah the man of God was facing a crucial moment in
his life, soldiers were sent to arrest but he remembered that he had one deadly
weapon
7.
The Weapon of Praise and worship - Psalm 8:2
“From the lips of children and
infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe
and the avenger. NIV
Example of people who use the weapon of praise and worship
a. Jehoshaphat - 2 Chronicles 20:20-28
“Jehoshaphat's army went out into the Desert of Tekoa early in the
morning. As they were starting out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to
me, people of Judah and Jerusalem. Have faith in the Lord your God, and you will stand strong. Have faith in his
prophets, and you will succeed." 21 Jehoshaphat listened to the people's advice. Then he chose men to
be singers to the Lord, to praise
him because he is holy and wonderful. As they marched in front of the army,
they said,
"Thank the Lord, because his love continues forever."
22 As they began to sing and praise God, the Lord set ambushes for the people of Ammon, Moab, and Edom
who had come to attack Judah. And they were defeated. 23 The Ammonites and Moabites attacked the Edomites, destroying them
completely. After they had killed the Edomites, they killed each other. 24 When the men from Judah came to a place where they could see the
desert, they looked at the enemy's large army. But they only saw dead bodies
lying on the ground; no one had escaped. 25 When Jehoshaphat and his army came to take their valuables, they
found many supplies, much clothing, and other valuable things. There was more
than they could carry away; there was so much it took three days to gather it
all. 26 On the fourth day Jehoshaphat and his army met in the Valley of
Beracah and praised the Lord. That
is why that place has been called the Valley of Beracah to this day.27 Then Jehoshaphat led all the men from Judah and Jerusalem back to
Jerusalem. The Lord had made them
happy because their enemies were defeated. 28 They entered Jerusalem with harps, lyres, and trumpets and went to
the Temple of the Lord. NCV
b. David,
when he was called upon to minister to king Saul – 1 Samuel
16:15-16
15 Saul's attendants said to him,
"See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 Let our lord
command his servants here to search for someone who can play the harp. He will
play when the evil spirit from God comes upon you, and you will feel
better." NIV
c. Paul and Silas in Prison – Acts 16:25-26
“25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to
God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations
of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and
everybody's chains came loose. NIV
I don’t know the type of song or hymn they were sing but they were
sing something about the power of Jesus’ name, the song also talked about how
powerful the blood of Jesus is, it has power to brake lose every spiritual
chain….
I added prayer to the weapons a believer can use against the enemy
but the Holy Ghost thought me something which is very important for us all to
know as a believer.
What makes prayer powerful is all that we have mention, if we take
those things from our prayers (the name of Jesus, the Blood of Jesus, the Holy
Spirit in us, the Word of God, the Fire of God and Praises) prayer becomes
powerless.
Illustration
A gun cannot kill but bullet kills. A bullet cannot kill in itself
but it needs a gun but when the two comes together they become a powerful
weapon you can use against your enemy. So many Christians are holding guns
without bullet in battle against the enemy who is aware that your gun is empty.
I remember a story that I was told; an arm robber went to the bank
to rob in a hot Friday afternoon, when he entered the bank he shouted, everybody
down if you move I will kill you. In some few seconds, someone entered without
knowing what was going on, the man said to her, you are lucky that there is no
bullet in my gun I would have killed you. They were still lying on the floor
not knowing that the man was mad and the gun was a toy type of gun.
The Christian today are repeating what the mad man did not knowing
that the devil knows that our gun is empty.
