THE BATTLE IS
OF THE LORD
EXODUS
14:10-14
God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your
mouths shut!" (THE MESSAGE)
Ex 14:14
14 Adonai will do battle for you. Just calm yourselves down!”
CJB
10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and saw that the
Egyptians were coming after them. Terrified, the Israelites cried out to the Lord. 11 They said to Moses, "Did you bring us out into the desert to
die because there were no graves in Egypt? Look what you've done by bringing us
out of Egypt! 12 Didn't we tell you in Egypt, 'Leave us
alone! Let us go on serving the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to
serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!"13 Moses answered the people, "Don't be afraid! Stand still, and
see what the Lord will do to save
you today. You will never see these Egyptians again. 14 The Lord is fighting
for you! So be still!" “GOD'S WORD”
We use to
say “life is war”, this means that everybody is engage in a battle one way or
the other. Some are engage is psychological battle, others are in financial
battle, some are still struggle against sickness and diseases, we can say we
have two forms of battle;
a. Physical battle
b. Spiritual battle
For the spiritual battle we are born into it, God said in Genesis 3:15
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your
offspring a and hers; he will crush b your head, and you will strike his heel." NIV
15 I'm declaring war between you and the Woman, between your
offspring and hers. He'll wound your head, you'll wound his heel." THE
MESSAGE:
But
the very day you accepted Christ as your Lord and personal savior the battle
move to another serious dimension.
Paul also confirms the war in this world when he said; “By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you — I,
Paul, who am "timid" when face to face with you, but "bold"
when away! 2 I beg you that when I come I may not have
to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by
the standards of this world. 3 For though we live in the world, we do not
wage war as the world does. 2 Cor 10:1-3 NIV
With this battle there is no neutral grounds, that is to
say you are either for the Lord or against Him or either for satan or against
him; ask your brother which camp or grounds are you?
The battle ends at the very moment you leave this world.
The fact is that, the battle is between the kingdom of God
and the Satanic kingdom.
For the success of every battle you need three things;
1.
You
need a commander
2.
You
need a plan or a strategy
3.
You
need a weapon
The battle is of the Lord because;
HE IS OUR COMMANDER –
EX. 14:14a
Ex 14:14
14 The Lord
will fight for you; you need only to be still." NIV
Deut 20:3-4
3 He shall say: "Hear, O Israel, today
you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or
afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. 4 For the Lord your God
is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you
victory." NIV
Every battle depends on the commander, the commander controls the
battle. Plans and strategy or weapons are nothing if you don’t have a
dependable commander. When you watch most of our action movies, the killers
most of the times possess more weapon than the captain but at the end, the
captain manage to overcome. The commander has the master plan. It does not
matter how intelligent you are, how eloquent you are, the commander is the one
the followers look up to.
Then, the question is, who then is our commander?
Let’s read
Joshua 5:13-15
13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man
standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him
and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"
14 "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the
army of the Lord I have now
come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked
him, "What message does my Lord d have for his servant?"
15 The commander of the Lord's
army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing
is holy." And Joshua did so. NIV
Isa 31:4-5
4 This is what the Lord says
to me: "As a lion growls,a great lion over his prey — and though a whole
band of shepherds is called together against him, he is not frightened by their
shouts or disturbed by their clamor — so the Lord
Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights. 5 Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord
Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he
will 'pass over' it and will rescue it." NIV
The battle is of the Lord because
HE HAS THE MASTER PLAN OR
STRATEGY FOR THE BATTLE – EXODUS 14:1-4, JOSHUA 5:14c
Then the Lord said to
Moses, 2 "Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi
Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly
opposite Baal Zephon. 3 Pharaoh will think, 'The Israelites are
wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.' 4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them. But I
will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians
will know that I am the Lord."
So the Israelites did this.
Josh 5:14
14 "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the
army of the Lord I have now
come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and
asked him, "What message does my Lord d have for his servant?" NIV
The success of every battle depends on the strategy or the plan
the commander has, it does not depend on the weapon because, the captain in our
action movies always wins over their enemies not because of their strength but
because of their strategy.
The evil one also has plans for every battle as Paul said
in Eph.
6:11 “Put on the full armor
of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. NIV
When dealing with the strategy of God sometimes if we are
not patience, you will not understand his plans.
Somebody has said, “When God is working His greatest
miracle, it seems the devil is winning”
The battle is of the Lord because,
HE PROVIDES THE WEAPON FOR THE BATTLE –
2 CORIN. 10:4-6
4 The weapons we fight with are not the
weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish
strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every
thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once
your obedience is complete. NIV
I said early that, success does not depend on the type of
weapon you use in battle, but success depends on the power your weapon can
release. A weapon makes your plan and strategy effective.
The most important aspect of weapon is the power it
contains, the power of every weapon does not depend on the size of the weapon
but what it was made of.
Our greatest weapon is the blood of Jesus -
Rev 12:11 “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb
If we are talking about battle
then the Lord is there to deliver us.
Ps 18:32-36
32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand
on the heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can
bend a bow of bronze. 35 You give me your shield of victory, and
your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. 36 You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn. 37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till
they were destroyed. 38 I crushed them so that they could not
rise; they fell beneath my feet.39 You armed me with strength for battle; you
made my adversaries bow at my feet. 40 You made my enemies turn their backs in
flight, and I destroyed my foes. NIV
